Okay, I just ran across an article in Time from 2007...

" !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ". Looking at their list, all I can say is "wat". The Crosley Hotshot? The Model T? The Dauphine? The Dymaxion? GTFO and GTFAC. Their guiding lights here seem to be "impractical/experimental/unusual is bad" and "think of the childrens!" safety hysteria in 80% of the cases.

Isn't the Model T the best car of all time?

Periodicals LOVE to make lists like this from time to time, and usually they're nothing more than fluff riddled with glaring inaccuracies, half-truths, and even accompanying photos that are mis-captioned and aren't of the actual car they're commenting on.

It's all based on an opinion of someone nobody cares about, and these articles are rarely bylined.

Well, maybe. Also maybe the Austin Seven.

I know, right? And they even had the nerve to put the Mondial on that list. You should see what they picked from the 90s!

Did they actually make that Horsey Horseless?

This one was put together by Dan Neil of the LA Times, purportedly a Pulitzer prize winner, but still has the inanity to describe itself as a list of "the greatest lemons of the automotive industry". I... eh... WHAT.

A lemon. Is a car. Of unusually bad quality. Usually *within* its type and model. And reported as such. By customers. *Not* a prototype. *Not* a car that put people off with quirkiness. Not a car that was unsafe. Definitely not a car you don't like because of delicate sensibilities. Or because you look down your nose at the target market. You fuckstick.

Then again, fuckstick/L. A. Times, I repeat myself.

Picking a prototype (see also the Dymaxion) or a one-off as a worst car ever and describing it as a "lemon" as the main page does smacks of such butt-shat empty-headed wordfuckery I'm at a loss trying to process it. Pulitzer prize winner my anus.

Point. And the L.A. Times, which makes every effort to outdo in yellowness and idiocy the N.Y. Times, who still have their Walter Duranty Pulitzer on display...

No sher, shitlock. Titles himself an automotive journalist, though - and is clearly from the "I went to journalism school and thus know everything" strain of dipshit.

I'm pretty sure Communism gave Communism a bad name, and why pick one crappy Commie car when there were a wide range each with different things wrong with them?

What's really funny is that any car guy these days would probably put the PT Cruiser on the list, but does he? Does he bollocks. No, it's the Chevy HHR that earns his ire...

He really is an idiot.

Uh-oh. Here comes trouble. Let's stipulate that the Model T did everything that the history books say: It put America on wheels, supercharged the nation's economy and transformed the landscape in ways unimagined when the first Tin Lizzy rolled out of the factory. Well, that's just the problem, isn't it? The Model T — whose mass production technique was the work of engineer William C. Klann, who had visited a slaughterhouse's "disassembly line" — conferred to Americans the notion of automobility as something akin to natural law, a right endowed by our Creator. A century later, the consequences of putting every living soul on gas-powered wheels are piling up, from the air over our cities to the sand under our soldiers' boots

So the Ford Model T was a 'lemon', one of the 'worst cars of all time', because it was successful? Yeah, no. Close tab, memory wipe, unfortunately can't get those couple of minutes of my life back.

Yes. He's an "auotmotive journalist" writing everything from the perspective that cars are bad - no, really. I had hoped the few examples listed would forewarn anyone that it was possible brain injury ahoy, but given the excerpt text, I may not have stated that strongly enough.

It's like that Top Gear episode with the transportation minister type who was the speed-limit/bus lanes/reduce car volume idiot - wrong man in the wrong job and likely sticking to it because he enjoys inflicting his "superiority" on the lower life forms who enjoy something he's not taken even five seconds to appreciate himself. He's above all that, you see. Total knob, as your countrymen might say.

"It's like that Top Gear episode with the transportation minister type who was the speed-limit/bus lanes/reduce car volume idiot"

You should have listened to him more carefully. It was speed-limit/bus lanes/increase car volume. And it did work. Clarkson was being his usual.

In reducing car volume, I was referring to his perspective on car travel overall, as there was a good bit of complaint he delivered regarding overall volume and I thought he proffered bus transit as a better alternative in the process. I'm aware his solution did work to moderate car volume and principally reduce a choke point (i.e. by forcing a moderated flow in reduced lane count throughout), but I'm not wholly convinced it was the best one.

Yes, Clarkson was being his usual, but there seemed to be contempt for whole classes of car owners and a fairly shallow grounding in the culture of the thing - entirely too much "kids these days" grumble in his delivery and outlook.

Yeah, that's Two Jags for you.

But still, there's a difference between arguing that we have too many cars on the road and should look at alternatives - something any Jalop ought to agree with - and arguing that because we have too many cars on the roads, the best cars are actually the worst cars.

The Model T is a special case in his discussion, actually. The "the Model T brought motor transport to the masses and is thus bad" type of badness.

Yes, he's a primo nutter.

Dan Neil has quite some epic trolling tendencies. Kinder terms would call them "unpopular opinions." I'll call it what it is.

Any best/worst listicle is inevitably a troll job: fact. This is why Buzzfeed is a giant pile of time-sucking clickbait: nothing more, nothing less.

WE WANT YOUR REACTIONS. WE FEED OFF OF THEM. WE WANT TO SIPHON YOUR RAGE INTO A DELICIOUS FROZEN RAGESICLE AND FEED UPON IT. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAAAAAAAA
